FOR ALL THE WORKCAMPS IN KYRGYZSTAN:
The
group: Mixed, it will be composed of about 7 international
and 5 local volunteers. Volunteers will manage the working hours,
free time activities with the leaders. Decisions will be the
result of discussion with the whole group. Local inhabitants who
want to be involved will be welcome.
No alcohol is permitted during the camp at the campsite and
the accommodation venue.
Remarks:
Foster cross-cultural friendship and awareness, both for guests
wanting to experience Kyrgyzstan, and for locals trying to
better understand the world around them.
Increase
civic activism and awareness in Kyrgyzstan, and the surrounding
region. Develop and strengthen ties between Kyrgyzstan and the
other countries, cultures, and individuals represented by camp
participants.
The
main objective of the workcamp is to create an intercultural
meeting through project of local development.
Insurance:
Volunteers
should come with health and accident insurance.
Good to know: “Leadership” is a Youth Volunteer
Organisation, since 1996 it was a branch of the local NGO «Leader»,
in 2005 it became a separate (an individual) organization.
The
mission of the organization is the youth
involving into civil society building and development process
via training, project and program realization and propaganda
ideas of volunteerism by collaboration with local and
international volunteering organizations. The
international workcamp program is an important part in the
action undertaken by our organization. The international
workcamps help to exchange youth and volunteering activities in
community development, intercultural education, understanding
and peace through voluntary service. The international work
camps help in strengthening correlation between our
organizations.

NOT
FORGET:
To take a back-pack, sleeping bag, mat,
waterproof clothes, warm clothes, comfortable shoes for
hiking, a swimming suit, sunscreens (cream), anti mosquitoes
things (insecticides) cause much of the time we will spend on
the shore of the lake, a torch light, your national recipes,
your music, songs, games, energy and good mood!!!

Aksuu
orphanage hosts 109 children from 3 year old to 19 year old. In
summer time children live in the summer corpse on the
beach
of
Issyk-Kul
Lake
, collect herbs on the field and weed potatoes. Children are not
isolated from social life; they visit secondary schools with
other local children. Team of volunteers will be able to help
children to develop English communicative skills, foreign
cultural acknowledgement, tolerance and leadership skills
sharing, sport and intellectual activities, singing and dancing,
there will be about 60 children of 3-19 years old. Children will
be divided into small 3 or 4 groups for the convenience of work.
Local teachers and nurses will help us in working with children.
Teachers in the Orphanage are interested in having practice in
conversation and working with young people from abroad.
W: collecting herbs; making jam from sea-buckthorn and
apricot, work with children (games, competitions, trainings
etc.); potato weeding together with children; leisure time
organization; English language practising with the teenagers,
bill boards’ creation for and with children.

LO:
Aksuu is situated not far from Karakol – Issy-Kul oblast
centre. Camp will take place in summer corpse of Aksuu orphanage
which is in Pristan. Pristan is
14 km
away from Karakol.
LA:
English, Russian is preferable as children know basic phrases in
English
A: Summer corpse of the orphanage with cottages in triple
rooms with beds. Sometimes volunteers will be accommodated in
tents. Bathhouse will be available as required. The sleeping bag
and mat are required.
F: Cooking will be done by volunteers in the kitchen with
all necessary stuff for cooking.

Tamga
village is located in Jetty Ogyz of Issykkul oblast. The
population of Tamga village is 5306 people. Tamga
villagers are oriented onto ecological values and activization
of local community representatives through creating guide-books,
forming the group of professional guides and conducting
ecological volunteer work camps.
W:
yurt (traditional Kyrgyz house) fixing, beach cleaning and
sea-buckthorn planting and preserving, gardening, recycling
management, traditional items production, working out ecological
routes.

LO:
Tamga village is located in
100 km
from Karakol - the oblast center. Ordinary means of
transportation can be used, such as minibuses and cars.

A:
The classroom of local secondary school in Tamga village.
Sometimes volunteers will be accommodated in tents. Kitchen
stuff will be available in the dining room of the school.
Bathhouse will be available as required. The sleeping bag and
mat are required.

Yak
Tours Karakol was founded in 1991. The organization is unique,
offering tourism that emphasizes environmental and social
issues. The main directions of Yak Tours are: solving ecological
problems, protecting nature, camps with handicapped children,
preserving domesticated animals including yaks, lamas, and goats.
Every year a lot of people visit Arashan and admire its beauty.
W: analysis of fir trees with entry into record (schemes,
pictures, summery report), creation of protection shields
for young fir plants, researching of ecological situation
in mountain area, hiking and swimming in
hot springs
at leisure time.
LO:
Arashan is situated in
40 km
from Karakol – Issy-Kul oblast centre. This is 6 hours of
walking or 1,5 hour of driving.
LA:

AKSUU FOREST

Aksuu
Forest Department (
Nursery
Forest
) is situated in Aksuu village,
15 km
from Karakol. Forest Department was created in 1947 but in 2003
acquired a legal status. It is the only one on the North of
Kyrgyzstan and that is why it is so unique. Aksuu Forest
Department covers
21858 hectares
of land scope,
7048 hectares
of which are covered with forest. One of the main directions of
Forest Department is recovery of forest. According to this every
year they plant trees, care young seedlings, protect soil, etc.
Work
Project: Caring
for young trees (watering and weeding), researching forestry
issues, reconstruction of Forestry Museum, making preparation
for it (collecting fir apples, herbarium, designing and making
wooden items), creating recreation items for visitors (wooden
chairs, tables, stools), and making wooden items for educational
purposes “Tsunahiki” (a Japanese game).

Location:
Aksuu is situated
15 km
from Karakol, the Issy-Kul Oblast centre. Aksuu region is one of
the region’s oldest districts, full of
hot springs
for health and leisure. Surrounded completely by mountains, this
location is truly picturesque.

English; Kyrgyz or Russian is preferable
Accommodation:
Summer cottages,
sometimes volunteers will stay in tents and yurts (traditional
Kyrgyz houses). Kitchen supplies will be available. Bathhouses
will be provided as required. Volunteers should bring sleeping
bags and mats.

the kitchen with all necessary supplies provided.

back-pack, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, raingear, warm clothes,
comfortable shoes for hiking, a swimsuit, sunscreen, insect
repellent (much of the time will be spent on the lake shore), a
torch, your national recipes, music, songs, games, energy, and a
good mood!

organizational costs.
