IDENTIFICATION AND AIMS :

JEC  is non governmental and non lucrative association founded in 1959 in accordance with 1998's law of public freedom allowing associations’ creation of volunteer work created by young volunteers’ initiative and willingness to contribute to the construction of a new deal based upon peace value, solidarity and fraternity among people. Since its creation, JEC has never given up encouraging the promotion of these values within young people.

JEC aims at promoting the voluntary service by working on projects favourably benefiting to the local community especially to poor district. It is also an educational movement lucidly based upon the international exchange of young people within summer workcamps. It fosters youth’s expectation through an action attended by environmental safeguard and by making young volunteers aware of the importance of community work.

JEC’S STRUCTURES :

JEC organises its congress once in every three years with the participation of the representatives of the sections during which it evaluates the activities, elaborates the program and elects the members of the central bureau. The central bureau sets up the activities of the association and deal with the following axis: international exchanges, training, orientation, workcamps, cultural projects, financial and administrative management.

The coucil of administrative committee is formed by the central bureau and the representatives of the sections.

JEC 01                Safi             20/07- 03/08/2008                  

Where?

Safi is a beautiful town (400.000 residents) situated on the Atlantic Ocean ; this town is well known for its pottery, its monuments and nice beach. The climate is normally hot in summer however warm closes are advised to be used in fresh nights. Safi is about 150km away from Marrakech, 250 km from Casablanca and 350 from Rabat .

What is about the project

The project, which will be organized in collaboration with the local delegation of education, will take place in a school; it consists in painting and cleaning the rooms and the surrounding area. In the work a technician animator will organize the work programme and will lead the volunteers. The general organization of the workcamp will be done by another camp leader.

Accommodation and lodging.

The volunteers will be lodged in the centre itself. The meals will be prepared by the volunteers themselves (2v or 3v for day)

Maison de Bienfaisance, Sidi Abdelkrim - Safi. You will be expected there the first day of the project (20rst of July)

Travel instructions

From Marrakech take a "grand taxi" (big taxi) to go to Safi - it takes around 1h30 and  costs around 50Dh (5 Euros)
From Casablanca - take a train or bus to go to Safi ( 4 hours / 70 Dh) or a taxi (4 hours /70Dh)
When you arrive in Safi , take small taxi - the price will be around 10Dh and ask for the "Maison de bienfaisance"

Essaouira is a beautiful town situated on the Atlantique Ocean ; this town is well known for monuments and crafts and nice beach. The climate is normally hot in summer however warm closes are advised to be used in some fresh nights. Essaouira is about 370 km south from Casablanca and 470 kilometres south from Rabat .

What is about the project

The project, which will be organized in collaboration with the delegation of national youth. The work consists at helping in the renovation of a children centre, painting its rooms ; you will also plant flowers in the area. In the work a technician animator will organize the work programme and lead the volunteers. The general organization of the workcamp will be managed by another campleader.

Accommodation and lodging.

The volunteers will be lodged in the centre. The food will be prepared by the volunteers themselves (2v or 3v for day)

 JEC CULTURAL PROJECTS

The project

The project will be organized by JEC which has started organizing this kind of project six years ; every year we got positive feedback from the participants and from the partners. The participants will get in contact with the Moroccan techniques to work pottery. They will get knowledge about how to do pottery articles from working and preparing the earth to decorating the articles. This activity doesn’t require individual skills but it demands your motivations to overcome all difficulties. JEC will provide you all the materials needed by this activity. One of the aims of these projects is to discover the Moroccan culture and history and compare this to yours. The training course will be in the morning from 9 to 12 if needed some courses could be given in the afternoon.

Activities

JEC will organize and finance one excursion, however you can elaborate other programs in collaboration with the campleader. As a contribution from your side, you can also take with you a music instrument to animate more and more the group of the camp and create a suitable climate between the participants
