MTV PROJECTS

This MTV projects were born by the necessity to involve international volunteers in volunteer projects in Peru to work together with Peruvian youngsters.

Peru Sonqoikipy started to organize these projects in 2003 with excellent results this is why we have decided to open more places for International Medium Term Volunteers.

The volunteers in these projects will have the chance to interact with many local communities and will be working closely with Peruvian youngsters, this is a experience of organization, work and at the same time to create long lasting friendships, help communities and more than this, share a life experience with the people of Peru .

Many things have to be made for the co-ordination of international workcamps and one of them is leading international groups of volunteers, and this is what this projects are all about; the volunteers will lead different groups of international volunteer in projects in Mexico .

The MTV volunteer will be the camp leader of the international workcamps and will be in charge to coordinate groups of international volunteers to work in the activities of the projects but also to encourage the interaction with the locals and the intercultural exchange of the participants

MTV Volunteer will receive

1.-A Leader Training Course to lead international groups of volunteers.

2- A training to adapt to the Peruvian culture, manage cultural shocks and motivation of work teams.

3.- Training to learn administration team tools, techniques to manage conflicts and to make teams of people work smoothly.

WORK: The work will consist helping to co-ordinate local projects in different communities in Mexico and to be the camp leader of groups of international volunteers (manage daily life, organization of the volunteers finances, etc) and also to co-ordinate the relationships with the local people in each place always will be supported by Vive Mexico staff and the local hosts of each project.

Each MTV volunteer will lead 2 or 3 groups of international volunteers in 2 or 3 different projects. Between each camp there is a vacation period before the next project starts and at the end of the MTV period will make a general evaluation of his/her stay in Peru .

LOCATION: Each MTV project will be held in different parts of Peru .

POCKET MONEY: Peru Sonqoikipy will pay for all the expenses of the MTV volunteer while in the international projects, between each project there is a 8 to 17 days vacation period that will be used to rest but also to prepare all the necessary things before the next project starts, Vive Mexico will not cover any expense during these days but after each project the volunteer will receive a pocket mone y.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY FOR ALL THE VOLUNTEERS

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL THE VOLUNTEERS ACCEPTED IN THE PERU SONQOIKIPY PROJECTS

Sonqoykipi besides the workcamp it self; gives the opportunity to take part in an Intensive Course of Spanish for all the volunteers interested. This activity is organized 7 days before the starting date of each camp. The volunteers MUST GO to the city of Ayacucho to take part in it.

After participating, the volunteer must travel to his/her project meeting point.

The costs for the Spanish language course is:

SPANISH LANGUAGE COURSE                              150 EUROS

This cost includes

·         Hosting for 7 days and 6 nights in one house of the city with all facilities at your disposal

·         Materials needed for the course (books of theory, books for exercises, etc.)

·         Intensive Spanish classes given by a professional Spanish teacher in the city of Ayacucho .

This cost is inexpenxive compared with the traditional language courses in the private schools of Spanish in Peru and the people giving the course are professional teachers of Spanish, the classes are 3 hours a day during 5 days and the participants have a lot of home work to do.There will be a free day generally on Sunday, to give the chance to the participants to visit the nearby towns and interesting places and to know better each other.

The volunteers have to indicate in the confirmation slip if they will participate in these activities and in which dates.

This course was a really good success since the year 2003 we strongly recommend to your volunteers to take part in it. If they don t speak a good Spanish, it will help them to enjoy even more their workcamps. It is also the opportunity to spend one week in the beautiful city of Ayacucho in a relaxing atmosphere.
